The Florida Institute for Neurologic Rehabilitation (FINR) has trusted Carlson Studio Architecture to do many of its projects through the years. FINR specializes in treating and rehabilitating clients with neurologic impairments. A new addition to its main rehabilitation campus located in Hardee County is this Pool Complex facility consisting of 12,550 square feet.
This three building complex provides a recreational pool for the clients, as well as a pump house/pool cabana, a general store and a vocational training and rehab center. The vocational/rehab building includes computer labs, administrative offices, classrooms, activity spaces and large locker rooms for both men and women to serve the large swimming pool and 2 outdoor spas.
The general store building sits partially in the lake that it overlooks, and features exposed heavy timber roof framing, and wide covered outdoor decks for one to sit and enjoy the view across the lake in its beautiful, natural setting.
A notable feature of the pool complex is a man made waterfall, over 200 feet in length, wrapping around the complex, facing the entrance to the entire FINR campus. This wall/waterfall overflows into the adjacent lake along its entire length. The exterior features include metal roofs, split face block, and Hardee siding to tie into the other existing buildings on the campus.
